Analysing through the Flask

In a co-operation with Statens Serum Institut (SSI), it has now been made possible to analyze the growth of TB in – but through – the flask.

This means that the time for taking the TB in growth into production of vaccine, can now be optimized without breaking the sterility.

The flasks were placed on top of a mug light (a probe device from ASD Inc.) in the temperature cabinet. The mug light was connected to a LabSpec©2500 standing outside the cabinet, where the results were shown.

TB was some years ago declared distinct by UN. Unfortunately is has crept up again. SSI is one of the laboratories which keept basic growth material, which now makes it possible to help people worldwide who are exposed to tuberculosis.

This development gives very many new application possibilities first of all in the branches of industry, where the analysis of products is related to trouble of taking it out of the glass containers, and/or where this procedure is creating issues concerning work safety.

Which Crisis?

The financial statement for 2008 and the business plan for 2009 for Scandinavian International Sales have been approved.

The positive result of the company’s activities in 2008 were 31 % at the bottom line, and an equity capital, which is 7,5 % of the turnover.

The export share of the total revenue in 2008 was 76 % of the total revenue.

The company owes nothing to the bank, which gives it a very strong starting point for surviving the present financial crisis.

The business plan for 2009 is rather aggressive considering we are in a crisis. The growth is expected to be ca. 20 %, and the major strategy move is to turn more focus on the analytical equipment part of the product range.

We already strengthened our position in this market in 2008. Not only by representing ASD Inc., who’s solutions have now been marketed to the Scandinavian market for two years with very good results. In 2008 Scandinavian International Sales  also became the exclusive distributor for Raman Systems Inc. in all the Nordic countries, Benelux, Germany and Austria.

Part of the plan for 2009 is to add 1-2 more agencies in the area of analytical equipment.

Airport Security

Raman Systems Inc. – represented by Scandinavian International Sales – has now developed a calibration that could make it even more safe to travel by plane. The calibration makes it possible in seconds to identify the content of a bottle as water, alcohol from the tax free shop … or an unwanted substance such as explosives.

SIS expand its Analytical business together with Raman Systems Inc.

SIS has – as of October 2008 – signed a contract with Raman Systems Inc., Austin Texas, USA, to represent the company I Northern Europe.

Raman works with a narrow part of the NIR spectrum, but uses a laser.

This means that the analysis is based on scatter and not absorption,

which enables analysis much alike those across the Vis/NIR/IR spectra

(except for moisture and particle size analysis). The benefits over and

above a NIR solution

Less extensive work to develop methods

Supplies fundamental information (not overtones) which tend to give more specificity

Analysis through bags and bottles (this works for post-dispersive NIR as well though)

Is not affected by the water band which gives MIR accuracies in liquids

       Transferrable calibrations

       More affordable solutions

SIS on exposition in Jönköping, Sweden, 27-29th May 2008

Scandinavian International Sales will be exhibiting at the World Bioenergy 2008 in Jönköbing, Sweden 27th to 29th May 2008. You will find us in the Danish exhibition stand supported by The Danish Embassy in Sweden and the organisation DANBIO.

Together with Aalborg University in Esbjerg, SIS is now capable of helping producers of biogas to optimise their production by measuring the free fatty acids in biomass. Our partner ASD Inc. from Boulder, USA has further developed the possibility to measure almost all the parameters which you are looking for when producing bio diesel. Together we thus have a very strong packet to offer the bio energy industry. This is what we now want to expose to the market. We hope to see you in Jönköping, Sweden. Approved supplier to Campina

Scandinavian International Sales was 3rd December 2007 approved as supplier to Campina www.campina.com. Campina is one of the world's leading Dairy producers and they are presently in the process of reducing the number of suppliers. So an approval as supplier at this point of time is certainly a huge encouragement for not only Scandinavian International Sales, but also all the producing companies we represent. It tells that we have interesting solutions to offer at a high and reliable quality, says the owner of Scandinavian International Sales Michael Ruge in a statement.
